about
HQS FLORAL specializes in bespoke florals for weddings and special events. Our signature style is texture-forward and organic, paired with artfully curated colour palettes. Sustainability is key, as we prioritize working with locally grown flowers and low-waste floristry techniques. We take on a limited number of events per season, allowing us to dedicate our full attention and care to your event; we take care of the details so you don’t have to.
Other services include: workshops, floral installations for businesses, photo shoots and beyond, and freelance floral design for retail and event florists.

about the owner
Hey! I'm Hannah, an artist and florist living and working on Treaty 6 territory in amiskwaciwâskahikan-Edmonton, Alberta. I've worked in the floral industry since 2013 and have a background in visual arts, having completed my Fine Arts degree at the University of Alberta in 2019.
My introduction to the industry started with washing buckets and answering phone calls at a boutique flower shop in my hometown of Leduc. Always an artist and detail-obsessed, I naturally gravitated towards designing and found myself especially drawn to wedding work, eventually working my way up to managing their wedding and events bookings. Later, I went on to work as Creative Director of another high-end floral studio in Edmonton, before leaving to focus on my visual arts practice and work at a local gallery.
HQS FLORAL allows me to give my full attention to each project I work on, and empowers me to create a business that closely aligns to my values of sustainability, inclusivity, and experimentation. It brings me so much joy to create custom florals that tell your story, and are distinct and unique for each client.
Outside of work, you can probably find me snuggling with my needy kitty Jenny (aka my floral assistant), catching a movie at Metro Cinema, or running errands by bike.
xoxo

values
-
sustainability
I am committed to practicing sustainable floristry by avoiding using single use plastics, floral foam, and bleached/dyed flowers. In addition to this, I partner with local growers to choose Alberta-grown blooms whenever possible.
Nearly all of my wedding packaging is recyclable, home compostable, or reused!
-
inclusivity
Weddings are for everyone! As a queer-owned business, I understand that gendered wedding terminology can be both limiting and liberating. I encourage you to share your pronouns and preferred wedding terms before or during our consultation.
I aim to be a safe space for all types of celebrations, and I can’t wait to share your love story in a way that’s true to you!
-
experimentation
I specialize in custom designs that reflect you. I don’t believe in following traditions or trends just because!
I love creating designs that are unique to each of my clients, and I’m always down to try new things and collaborate. Experimentation is a key part of my visual arts practice, and I see this reflected in my floral practice as well.
